All around the world, great success is being experienced technologically, economically, socially and politically. And yet there seems to be a great dissatisfaction in people with their achievements, governments, and with life in general. Where is the gap? In the Church, sermons and songs are having little effect on the faithful. What the church today is lacking is not good music, nice sermons or great programs.
Amilliah Kenya has written a powerful book. It shows us that God's presence is that critical element we all are falling short of as individuals, families, ministries and societies. This book clearly shows us how to practice God's presence in order to be effective and fulfill our purpose in this world. While reading this book, I have had to stop severally and pray, as it became clear to me that I needed to seek God's presence afresh.
I have known Amilliah Kenya for many years. She has set the example of one who walks with God, in her youth as well as in her adulthood; in her family and as a professional woman. Amilliah is well suited to teach on God's Presence - Rev Douglas Jiveti, Director, Christ Aroma Ministries, Musician, and Pastor.
As a young adult, navigating life in the 21st century, the ability to gain and share information is at a peak regardless of subject matter. However, something seems to be amiss.
The Christian well of knowledge appears to be deep, but the church is shallow. Amilliah Kenya invites you to filter through the good and find the essential component that is missing—God's Presence, the fire and the power - Daniel Kenya, Edison Engineer with General Electric (GE)
In this age of fast-paced mechanical living, God's Presence is a very timely book. Because we have become so accustomed to functioning in the emptiness of our own power, the author takes time to answer questions like, "How did God's presence depart?" and "Why do we need God's presence?" I especially appreciate the personal check points at the close of each chapter. This book leaves the reader with more than just a knowledge about the presence of God. Rather, it sparks an interest and a desire to experience God's presence. - Chad Vick, Front-End Web Developer, Graphic Designer
"A must read for every Christian, young and old. Very honest and practical, Amilliah has written a refreshing book reminding us that the secret to life is God's tangible presence in secret prayer. If you have two pockets, keep the Bible in one, and God's Presence, The Missing Something in the other." - Peter Hyatt, director, Baptist Collegiate Ministry, Clemson University
I think we have a good thing here. May the Lord use it to bring His children closer to Him. A promise is only as good as the one making the promise. In Hebrews 13:5 the Holy Spirit speaking through Paul tells us, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." How about that? The Creator of the universe. YOUR creator. The One who holds the world in the palm of His hand has promised to never leave you. Amilliah has touched on the importance of experiencing the presence of God because He desires to be in intimate communion with you. Pray, read, pray again and inwardly digest this book and you will find yourself in the presence of God - Dr. Bill Decken, Diplomate in Philosophical Chiropractic Standards (DPhCS), Professor and Chair, Philosophy Department Sherman College of Chiropractic.
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing (John 15:5).
The secret to a fulfilled and fruitful Christian life is the presence of God in one's life. Many people in the contemporary world feel that Basic Biblical Principles are outdated, too simplistic and may not be relevant in all the seasons of one's life.
Amilliah, in this book, identifies the strong need (that exists now than ever) for sure guidance in ways to make the presence of God a reality in our lives and endeavours to do that.
The bible declares in Matthew 7:7-8 that "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you, For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened". This book comes timely as part of the answer to that Christian who is asking, seeking and knocking to learn how to experience the presence of God in his or her life.
I find this book commendable for two reasons namely its content and its author.
The book demonstrates knowledge and deeper understanding of Biblical truths by bringing specific scriptures and diligently applying them to teach anyone who desires to cultivate the presence of God in his or her life. It shows that Gods presence and indeed His Word is still relevant to our lives today in the midst of present technological advances. God's Word still addresses the issues affecting our lives today.
It presents a timely challenge for the Christian to dare to trust God again, and to stir up that plain simple faith in the God of the Bible. It shows that such close fellowship with God is able to transform an ordinary life to a supernatural fulfilling and fruitful Christian life.
The author, Amilliah Kenya, is a woman who has lived a life consistently guided by the principles she presents in this book. For the years that I have known and interacted with her, I observed several qualities in her life that make her competent to guide other Christians in seeking Gods presence in their lives.
She is a worshipper, who together with her husband, have dared to spend time in prayer and study of God's Word. She has learnt to wait upon God with the full assurance that God is able to guide and lead her in her life. She is also committed to her family and has stood as a submissive wife to her husband according to Ephesians 5:22-24. She has demonstrated strength in guiding her family through critical times and decisions without usurping or threatening the authority of her husband as head of the wife.
Her life exudes joy in the manifestation of Nehemiah 8:10b "for the joy of the LORD is your strength". She has been steadfast and drawn strength and joy from the abiding presence of God in her life even in times of adversity and loneliness. Her life has been an example of a life that one can look back on and see the faithfulness of God. That does not mean that she had an easy life, but she has practiced the principles she has enumerated in the book about the presence of God, and God in response to her simple faith has also manifested his faithfulness in her life.
In this book "God's Presence, The Missing Something", Amilliah is giving an invitation akin to saying; come and walk with me on this path that has been true in my life, the path of experiencing the presence of God. She is helping the reader to find that 'Missing Something' that has been choked out of our daily Christian lives by other issues that crowd our lives today.
I recommend this book for any Christian who desires to cultivate Gods presence in his or her life. I pray that such a person will find that 'Missing Something' to enable him or her experience the difference that comes with the presence of God. I strongly endorse this book and trust that God Almighty will use it to draw many in this generation to a closer walk with Him - Joel Odhiambo Akumu, Land Surveyor, member of the Local Evangelistic Teams of The Kenya Students Christian Fellowship (KSCF), and an Assistant Pastor of Redeemed Gospel Church Oyugis.
Once in a while we need to be reminded of important things in life. For Christians at any point of our spiritual journey, a reminder that God is ever present is always a welcome reminder. This insightful book cuts through the fog surrounding our life here on earth and reminds us that God is still on the throne in spite of all the doom and gloom. I am reminded that God has given us a firm promise to never leave us, nor forsake us... and when He makes promises, He keeps them - Sospeter Gatobu, PhD. Waterloo, Ontario
I recommend Amilliah's book for anyone interested in God's presence in their life. For our churches and our Christian life to prosper the Lords presence must be a priority - Brady James Rochester, Evangelist, Musician, Blue-grass-picking preacher.
