Exactly how do we grow spiritually?
What are the essentials of spiritual growth?
1. God Expects Us to Grow Spiritually
And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? 1 Corinthians 3:1-3
Our Christian growth is likened to our physical growth. Children are fully dependent on parents but they are expected to outgrow some traits as they mature. God expects the same of His children. He feeds and nourishes, but as we grow, He teaches us where and how to find spiritual food and actively participate in our spiritual growth.
There is a stage where it displeases God for you to take spiritual milk instead of meat. There is a time when it displeases God for you to be carnal. He expects you to make visible and deliberate spiritual strides unto maturity.
