7. Dangers of Stunted Growth (A)
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. John 15:4-7
Spiritual growth occurs when we abide in the Vine—Christ.
Slaking and following a far off hinders you from receiving the nutrients needed for nourishment. You can neither hear nor follow God’s instructions. The result is a withered spirit which leads to carnality.
You lose respect and dignity since your life shows evidence of sinful deeds. People push you to the side and tramp over you as they avoid your polluting negative influence. You despise and humiliate yourself when you don’t grow.
