Restoring the Consistency of Walking with God

Serve God Even When You Are The Only One

…How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word. 1 kings 18:21

God is counting on you to serve Him. He is not asking you to serve Him when there are other people to copy and follow. You are God’s supreme choice for where you are at this hour. Serve Him. Do not waver or wait to see who else will serve Him. If God is truly God to you, serve Him!
Distance yourself from rebellious crowds and side with Joshua in saying, “but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” (Joshua 24:15) God does not make incompetent and wimpy vessels which are unable to serve Him. He has endowed you with what you need to serve Him with all your might. There are many people who are looking and waiting for you to be faithful before they, too, can commit to walking in obedience. Serve God.

Build a Heavenly Treasury

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Matthew 6:19-21

As you stay busy on earth, working and providing for your life, be sure to build an eternal treasury in heaven too. Many people will leave treasured possessions when they die only to step into glory and discover how profitless their labors were toward heaven.
Invest heavily in the things of God. Make a deliberate choice to serve God each day and build His kingdom. Pray for God’s people, serve, witness, and grow into spiritual fruitfulness. Take part in what God is doing and do it wholeheartedly as one serving God and not man. Seek the approval of God and transfer your storehouses from earth to heaven. In heaven, we shall all discover we could have given God much more.

Slow Down

For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not. But ye said, No; for we will flee upon horses; therefore shall ye flee: and, We will ride upon the swift; therefore shall they that pursue you be swift. Isaiah 30:15-16

Walking and growing with God demand slowing down to tune in and listen. The bottle-neck speed that characterizes our dot com age will deny you the coveted treasure of knowing God. Modernism dictates and sells you its lie that makes you believe that you have to be the first, fastest, and not miss any opportunities along the way.
God says, slow down, calm down, step aside, be alone for some time, stop, retreat, and listen! If you find yourself running non-stop from morning till evening day in day out, you must guard against physical and spiritual weariness. Your growth must be stunted. Your spiritual senses must be dull and in need of tuning. Slow down and recharge with God.

Meditate and Reflect on God

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. Psalm 1:1-2

Meditating on God’s Word will fill your life with awesome benefits. You will be like a tree which is planted by the river side. You will yield precious fruit as expected all the time. God promises to proper you in all your endeavors. You shall be established.
Time spend with God is time well spent. Give God His time and He will help you to accomplish much more with your remaining time. Retreat, step aside, slow down, sit down and grab your Bible, pen, and paper. Read, reflect, and embrace the truth of God’s Word. Soak in it and draw strength for today and courage for tomorrow. Keep your spiritual life a glow with the nourishment that results from meditating on God’s holy and divine Word.

Embrace God’s Grace

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

God extended His mercy and unmerited favor to draw and hold you dear to Himself. You are the beloved of God. He chose you because He wanted you. He wants to walk with you and help you in your everyday life. Do not let God be abstract to you.
I have yet to meet someone who got a treasured gift that never rejoiced or enjoyed it. Enjoy the gift of God. Walk tall as you appreciate what God has done. Enjoy His presence and delight in His protection. Rejoice at the wisdom and knowledge which He gives and use it to the fullest. Giggle in His mercy and shake off the heaviness of spirit with which the enemy enjoys to hold you captive. Enjoy your freedom and walk from the shackles of sin to live a fulfilled and victorious life in Christ. Embrace grace and grow.

Stride Patiently

And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. Hebrews 6:11-15

The Christian journey is not a sprint but a marathon. Stride with patience. God will not delay but will come through and do as promised. You too, like Abraham can wait and hold onto you promise: “surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.”
God is not unfair. Believe His promise in Hebrews 6:10 and keep honoring Him. “For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.”

Be Transformed by God

And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed. Genesis 32:26-28

Jacob was Esau’s brother. He acquired Esau’s birth right with the lure of a bowl of lentil soup. He deceived his father, Isaac, by successfully feigning to be Esau and thus inherited his brother’s blessings. Jacob was a schemer and a liar. At Elbethel, Jacob encountered God who confronted him for who he was. God gave Jacob a new name. Israel was no longer a lair but a prince who prevailed with God. He triumphed with God and no longer attained possessions deceitfully.
Embrace your defining moments of encountering God and move on to walk in newness of life and live in victory. Who are you? Let God change your destiny by transforming you.

Display God’s Splendor

To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified. Isaiah 61:3

You are living today under God’s divine and sovereign plan to display His splendor. You are God’s workmanship and co-worker to display His splendor and presence to this world. He does not demand more than He has equipped you to do.
Show forth the praises of Him who has called you out of the kingdom of darkness into His marvelous kingdom of light. Sing praises to Him. Put on your garment of praise and cast your spirit of heaviness and despair to God. Let Him take care of your burdens. Walk free from the bondage of the evil one and let your life glorify God. Allow people to see a reason to believe God through your life. Let His splendor be displayed through you.
