Display God’s Splendor

Do you desire to enjoy God and to display His splendor. Let us explore keys to enjoying your relationship with God.

To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified. Isaiah 61:3

You are living today under God’s divine and sovereign plan to display His splendor. You are God’s workmanship and co-worker to display His splendor and presence to this world. He does not demand more than He has equipped you to do.

Show forth the praises of Him who has called you out of the kingdom of darkness into His marvelous kingdom of light. Sing praises to Him. Put on your garment of praise and cast your spirit of heaviness and despair to God. Let Him take care of your burdens. Walk free from the bondage of the evil one and let your life glorify God. Allow people to see a reason to believe God through your life. Let His splendor be displayed through you.

Let God Be Your Shepherd

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Psalm 23:1-3

Sheep trust and follow their shepherd. They do not question when led to a different pasture or well. They are confident that their owner has their best interest at heart. They eat and drink what is set before them with joy and pleasure.

Growing intimately with God requires your trust and surrender to His sovereignty and leadership. Do not rely on who you are or what you think you are. You do not know what is best for yourself. God knows. Relinquish your stubbornness to God and let Him direct your life. You will never be all God desires of you until you learn to be led of Him. God’s choices may seem contrary but He will lead you to green pastures and satisfy you with peace.

Let God Be A Father

A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my fear? saith the LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name? Malachi 1:6

We love, honor, and respect our earthly fathers. We live with them until we are of age and enjoy their provisions and care. We trust them and depend on their strength and ability. We formulate and pattern our behavior after their favorable character traits and are happy to be called by their names.

God, your heavenly Father, deserves unmatched respect and honor. Do not struggle in life alone. You are never too old to relate to God as your Father. Get closer and develop deep love. Reverence Him and hold Him in high regard. Be delighted in Him and cultivate a strong relationship. Listen and follow. Failure to relate to God as a Father will lead to significant struggles with burdens and emotions.

Seek God

…for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever. 1 Chronicles 28:9

There is nobody who just finds himself close to God. Those who are intimate with God walk and work at developing the relationship.

When you seek Him early you will find Him. Proverbs 8:17
You will find Him when you search for Him wholeheartedly. Jeremiah 29:13
When you draw close to God He draws close to you. James 4:8
Let your heart thirst for Him. He will show Himself to you. Psalm 63:1

There is no one who has monopoly over God. You can have as much of Him as you want and be as close as you desire. You just have to do your part. God is close to those who call on Him out of truth and honesty. Psalm 145:18 Those who do not seek God do not grow spiritually.

Love God

Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself. Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. Exodus 19:4-6

True love shines like the sun’s rays on a perfect spring day. It penetrates, gives a glow, brings brightness, accentuates beauty, banishes cloudiness of heart, and fills you with joy and optimism. True love is enticing. It is seductive. It demands a response. Once you drink of it, nothing else satisfies.

God loves you. You are peculiar and special. Don’t stand aloof! Reciprocate His love and take spiritual strides towards Him. Taste for yourself and see that the Lord is good Psalm 34:8. Love Him unreservedly. Those who leave all and go wholeheartedly for God enjoy the best part of life here on earth.

Depart From Sin

For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire. 2 Peter 2:20, 22

Before salvation you were free to live in the filth of sin. Christ has washed you with His blood. You are clean and no longer a smelly outcast. God has filled you with His knowledge and wisdom to help you judge between good and evil. Walk like a child of the light.

Do not return to your mire of sin. The world looks and laughs at you. A lifestyle of sin gives good reasons for people to mock at God. Do not let a sinful pattern cause people to ridicule and despise you. You are far too precious to God for that.

Cherish the Work of The Cross

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:14-16

Make it a point to think back to what Christ accomplished for you on the cross and be thankful. When the heart loses the view of the cross it becomes arrogant and cold to the things of God.
Do not take it for granted that it was the work on the cross that:

Purchased your redemption and gave you freedom from sin. Ephesians 1:7
Triumphed over Satan and gave you power over sin. Colossians 2:13-15
Reconciled us to God and now presents us blameless before the Father. Colossians 1:20-22
Will deliver you from the presence of sin someday. Galatians 1:4
Cherish the cross that has made us sons of God, co-heirs with Christ; a peculiar people.

Cherish the Presence of God

And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people. Exodus 13:21

Two people may preach the same message using the same scripture yet one may have a tremendous impact over the other because of the presence of God in his life. Individuals and families can be distinctly different because of the presence or absence of God in their lives.

God’s presence preserved Daniel from the lions which devoured his accusers in the same den. Daniel chapter 6
God “blessed the house of Obededom, and all that pertaineth unto him, because of the ark of God.” 2 Samuel 6:12
Seek God’s presence; the same that accompanied Israel in the wilderness. His presence is a safeguard, a guide, and a source of blessings. Seek and cherish the presence of God.
