How do you satisfy your inner hunger? How do you deal with the deep longings of the heart that don’t seem to get a physical satisfaction?

Man is created with a vacuum within. This emptiness gnaws and craves to be satisfied every day. It is this void within that seeks meaning. It desires something tangible and seeks a reason for satisfaction in life. It is this very inner quest that desires to connect with God, our creator.

If left unattended, this deep rooted desire sets on an adventure. When God, in His mercy, reveals Himself to us, this quest results in worship, love, and a committed relationship to the Almighty God. However, those who fail to recognize the inner hunger for what it is suffer. Helter, skelter, they may run from place to place seeking satisfaction and fulfillment. In the process, they may incur bruises and wounds. An unsatisfied hunger has been known to throw many into despair leading to depression and utter hopelessness.

You don’t have to go through life with anguish of heart and soul every day.

The Psalmist, in his moment of such inner longing, cried to God in Psalm 61:1-5 saying,
1“hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.
2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
3 For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.
4 I will abide in thy tabernacle forever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.
5 For thou, O God, hast heard my vows: thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name.”

The insatiable hunger within you is a God-given mechanism to draw you to Himself. Like David, the Psalmist, you too can find solace in the arms of God. Life is full of overwhelming situations. In such moments when you are overwhelmed, seek help in the shelter of God. Abide in His tabernacle and enjoy the warmth of His embrace.
