23. When Afraid, Trust God
As you look back on this year, you will not miss many moments when fear gripped your heart. Much of what you held dear to your heart was carefully tucked away as those in whom you put your hope and trust faded from active stages of life. Challenges have been many. However, God has not changed with the changing times. He remains a rock and a sure foundation for all who will look to Him and trust in His care. Neither His power nor ability have dwindled because of the tough times we face. You can still trust God.
What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me. Psalm 56:3-4

There will be many moments in your life when you will have reasons to be afraid. Turn your eyes to heaven and let God speak courage and strength to your heart. This is part of what Jesus Christ came to do. See the words that were used to pronounce His birth as the shepherds trembled with fear. “And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:10-11

Trials will come and burdens will grow. You may be tempted to grow weary but don’t be afraid. Just believe. God cares. Given unto us is a Savior who has power to help you. He invites the weary to Himself.
