6. Spiritual Growth Produces Fruitfulness
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. Galatians 5:22-24
Spiritual growth is evidenced by fruitfulness. Fruits are not produced in one day. A plant must be cultivated and nurtured patiently before its fruit can be eaten. The plant is given the right conditions to promote growth. Necessary nutrients are provided, and unwanted weeds controlled before it can yield desired fruits.
A diligent Christian life produces fruit. The heart must be nurtured in the things of God and fed with sufficient nutrients from the Word of God. Things that thwart spiritual growth are avoided and dwelt with consistently. Character is nurtured. Before long fruits begin to show. God is glorified and other Christians are edified. It is not easy for a tree to hide its fruits. It is even harder to pretend to have fruits when there is none. Grow and bear fruit.
